Nadine's Swiss Biscuits

Nadine from Switzerland is visiting our school, and has been helping in our classrooms. On Friday she taught Rooms 5 and 6 how to make Swiss biscuits. She also taught us some Swiss words, and about the Swiss flag. We even made a box for our biscuits, that has the Swiss flag on the box. Thanks Nadine the biscuits were really nice and thank you for helping in our classrooms.

Cardboard Boxes

During the last week of term we were given two big cardboard boxes from Mrs Ogle, and one from Maddy's Mum. We had great fun working together and using our imagination. Look at our photo story to see what happened to the boxes.

Performing our Maori Songs at Assembly

In the third term the junior classes performed some Maori songs. We had been having special Maori lessons with Koiuru all term. The assembly was for us to show all the cool things we had learned. The photo story shows how much fun we had. Thanks Koiuru.

Cross Country at Vinson's Farm

This term we have been training for cross country. We were going to run the school cross country at Vinson's Farm. However due to heavy rain we ended up running the event at school, we called this 'cross concrete'. However the week before the 'cross concrete' we had a practice race at Vinson's Farm. We had great fun and had such a good race, that we made a video about it.

Jellybean Maths

We have been learning about making Graphs. We made two graphs about what colour jellybeans we found, comparing two packs of jellybeans. We sorted the jellybeans by colour. We then compared the results of the two packets. We found that in the first pack of jellybeans there were 17 blue beans this was the colour that there was the most of. In the second pack there were more yellow jellybeans 18, more than any other colour. We made graphs to show our results. The best part was eating the jellybeans at the end, they were yummy. The favourite colour, and flavour jellybean in our class were the red ones, we made a graph about our favourite flavour jellybean as well.

On Friday we made Gingerbread Men

Our Class at the start of 2009

We have started this year with 10 wonderful children. Nine of our children started last year, and one new boy started at the beginning of this year. We hope to have around seven or eight children coming into our class throughout the year. We have five boys and five girls. We have lots of exciting activities planned for the year, and have already had a visit from the Life Education truck, where we learned all about VIP's, which is what we all are, Very Important People, which all the children enjoyed, especially when they got to hug Harold the giraffe. We hope to share our exciting activities with you throughout the year.
